Katsina state Ministry for Women Affairs has organized a sensitization campaign for pregnant and nursing mothers in an effort to reduce the increasing cases of malnutrition amongst children in the state.
The seminar targeted women in rural communities where cases of acute malnutrition are on the rise.
TVC News Awwal Ibrahim reports that the event, which was organized with support from the Save the Children International was aimed to intensify the campaign to prevent acute malnutrition amongst Children of under five, as well as pregnant and nursing mothers .
In line with the state government’s restoration agenda, the Commissioner for Women Affairs said a lot of resources have been committed to women empowerment and more than two thousand women have benefited recently.
She added that the State wide enlightenment campaign on nutrition, has reached all the political wards across the thirty four LGAs in the state.
Representative of the state governor said international donors have been invited to assist in addressing the problems.
