Residents of a community in Adamawa State are accusing Fulani militia of killing a community leader.
The people in Koh town are mourning the death of 60-year old retired civil servant, Baba Rufus, who they say was killed when their village was invaded on Sunday.
They say the attackers shot sporadically into the air at a religious gathering ahead of Sunday service.
Some residents who spoke to TVC News about their ordeal said they were under the siege of regular attacks by Fulani herdsmen.
A community leader, Mr. Phineas Elisha described the attack as one too many, like others, lamented that the killings have been on for about four months.
He appealed for the beefing up of security to prevent further attacks and loss of lives.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa State command, Superintendent Othman Abubakar said the command lost a senior officer during an attack on Koh community last year.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police has given marching orders to DPOs in such areas to prevent recurrence of such ugly incidences.
Koh community has appealed for deployment of security personnel to the area to safeguard lives and property from constant unprovoked attacks by Fulani mercenaries.
