Despite the open declaration of the Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun that he would support governorship candidates from Ogun West, one of his Commissioners, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru who is in charge of Commerce and Industry has declared his intention to run for the governorship position in 2019.
He made this official declaration after emerging the winner among other eight contenders for the race from Ogun East Senatorial District comprising of Ijebu and Remo zones of the state.
Ashiru was selected through a consensus process after a meeting called by a four member selection committee of the Ijebu/Remo governorship Agenda forum.
Speaking shortly after the meeting the governorship aspirant commended the committee for the transparency it brought to bear on the process and promised to continue with the rebuilding agenda of the present administrator if elected in 2019.
