Some elders in Gombe state have rebuked Senator Danjuma Goje over statements he made during a condolence visit during the weekend by wife of Nigeria’s president, Aisha Buhari and Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo to him
over the death of his wife.
The group led by Ambassador Abdulmumini Abdullahi described Senator Goje’s comments as uncharitable and full of deceit warning him against throwing Gombe state into unnecessary political tension.
TVC News Lanre Adeyemi reports that Senator Goje, who is also a former governor of the state, accused Governor Dankwambo of ingratitude and insensitivity.
At a briefing with journalists, they expressed their displeasure on the unhealthy political rivalry while rebuking Senator Goje for what they say are false claims.
The group says such uncharitable statements were unbecoming of a serving senator who should know the consequence of careless words that could lead to a breakdown of law and order due to misinterpretation by political
supporters of both leaders.
Efforts to get Senator Goje or his supporters were unsuccessful. But analysts said the development may not be unconnected with the race for the 2019 Gombe state governorship election where the incumbent and former governors may be influential in who gets party tickets in the ruling APC and PDP or wins the final poll.
