The Senate has rejected Ahmed Bello Mahmud as nominee for the position of Resident Electoral Commissioner representing Zamfara state on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Meanwhile, two other nominees namely Rufus Akeju representing Lagos state and Mahmuda Isa representing Kebbi state were confirmed as INEC Resident Electoral Commissioners by the Senate.
Two out of three Zamfara state Senators had earlier kicked against Mahmud’s nomination on the grounds that he is from Sokoto and not Zamfara state.
