Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom has appeared before the Senate joint committees on Police Affairs and National Security and Intelligence investigating the non-compliance with the resolution of the upper chamber by the Inspector General of Police on the arrest of killer herdsmen in that
state.
Governor Ortom who refused to speak with journalists afterwards, interacted with the federal lawmakers for about two hours.
He was invited by the committee to give room for fair-hearing over his indictment by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for alleged culpability in the security crisis in the state.
The Senate had last week rejected the report of the joint committees on the basis that Governor Ortom, who was mentioned severally in the IGP’s report was not invited for his side of the story.
