TVC News has been described as Nigeria’s leading media outfit in development communication, peace and conflict reporting.
The commendation was made in Kafanchan, located in the Southern part of Kaduna state.
There, TVC’s correspondent in the state, Tesem Akende also got an award for balance and excellent reportage of the crises that has rocked Southern Kaduna for years.
The event was put together by the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, SOKAPU.
The station and its correspondent in Kaduna, Tesem Akende were noted for performing creditably whilst the region boiled.
The people said it’s what they couldn’t sweep under the carpet.
Southern Kaduna has suffered attacks, and counter attacks between armed herders and farmers for years.
With Tesem leading the TVC team in the state, the region was brought into the spotlight.
The team dared to visit evidently dangerous terrains, bringing stories to people’s living rooms.
And so the day’s award according to many was one well deserving.
The award recipient was grateful for the honour. Tesem had profuse praise for his employers and line bosses for always featuring the stories.
He appreciated his camerapersons, Gbenga Kehinde Oladipupo, and the former Hamza Abdullahi.
He described both as worthy allies and pledged to remain committed to good journalism.
He also challenged his colleagues to put the indigent, and seemingly voiceless first at all times.
