Protesters have clashed with police in Guinea’s capital city, Conakry as tensions rise between opposition and government supporters and the country awaits local election results.
Opposition protesters in a suburb of the capital threw stones at security forces who responded by firing tear gas and warning shots.
Anti-government sentiments have fueled after a long-delayed local election for mayors and neighbourhood chiefs took place last week.
The opposition claims fraud, says it would not accept the results which are still being collated.
