The Independent National Electoral Commission has constituted a panel to probe the recent cases of possible underage voting in Kano State.
INEC chairman Mahmud Yakubu says the investigative panel will start work next week.
Footages recently surfaced which showed voters, obviously children, participating in the local council elections conducted across Kano State last weekend.
This caused nationwide outrage that sparked fears of irregularities in the coming general elections.
In response, INEC said it should not be blamed for the violations of the electoral law because it did not conduct the Kano council elections.
But critics have blamed its officials for originally registering under-aged people .
