All children within the ages of 9 months to 5 years are expected to be vaccinated in the ongoing measles vaccination campaign in Ekiti state by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.
The agency had earlier on, kick started a nationwide measles campaign taking place in most states.
At a review meeting for technical and site team members, issues concerning logistics and the flag off campaign challenges were discussed.
Isaac Adu who is the executive secretary of the state’s primary health care agency, said the campaign will take place at six local government areas of the state.
The current phase of the campaign is expected to last for 13 days and the Commissioner for Health Ojo Olurotimi urged parents to allow their children and wards participate in the exercise.
Teams of seven members each and special supervising teams of three persons will be in charge of carrying out the vaccinations.
The campaign in Ekiti state is part of plans in line with the Federal Government’s target of reaching 33 million Nigerian children with the measles vaccine.
