The leadership of the National Assembly has described the death of Senate Ali Wakili representing Bauchi South as shocking, painful and a loss too much to bear for lawmakers.
Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara who accompanied other federal lawmakers and government officials to the burial of late Wakili at Gudu cemetery in Abuja. described him as an accomplished lawmaker.
The late Senator who died in his Gwarimpa residence after a sudden health attack was later taken to Gudu cemetery within Abuja city for burial.
After lowering his remains, Islamic prayers were offered for the safe passage of his soul with the event witnessed by Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara, other lawmakers, governors, politicians, friends and family members of the late Senator Wakili.
After the internment, dignitaries who spoke, described his death as shocking and a sad loss to the parliament as he was an active Senator who stood for higher ideals for the benefit of Nigerians.
Saraki and Dogara had earlier visited Senator Wakili’s Abuja home to commiserate with his family.
Until his death, the late Senator Ali Wakili represented Bauchi South in the Senate and he was until his death the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation.
