The National Assembly has threatened the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency with zero appropriation for 2018 for failing to fully utilize its capital budget for the 2017 fiscal year.
The house committee on Maritime Education, Safety and Administration said this during an oversight visit to the agency.
They want the maritime agency to tackle insecurity on the nation’s coast line, noting that foreign vessels encroach on the country’s maritime domain.
But director general of NIMASA said the agency is conducting its activities in a transparent and accountable manner, noting its initiatives to enhance maritime security.
