Senator Iyiola Omisore seems to have lost out in the Osun state chapter of the people’s Democratic party, PDP as the party on Sunday elected new executives that will run its affairs for the next three years.
The state congress which had more than 3000 delegates in attendance was held at the Osogbo Sports Stadium and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
TVC News Correspondent, Rafiu Hammed reported that Omisore and his loyalists boycotted the Congress.
Since the PDP lost power at the centre in 2015, the party has been facing leadership crises.
The story has not been different in Osun state where the party has been operating two party secretariats and factions.
While a faction was controlled by Omisore and Bayo Faforiji, another faction was under Soji Adagunodo, where majority of the state PDP members, who believe Omisore would want to impose himself as governorship candidate of the party in 2018 belong.
At the Congress held on Sunday, Soji Adagunodo was declared winner unopposed alongside other 28 executives.
The new executives were immediately sworn in.
Adagunodo promised on behalf of others to uphold the principles of fairness, justice and equity.
All efforts to get Omisore to react to his absence at the Congress failed as he was said to be holding a meeting in Ibadan.
