Governors elected under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party have unanimously said the party is growing stronger and it is not bothered by defection of some of its members to the social democratic party SDP. This assertion was part of the communique issued after a meeting of the PDP Governors and members of the national working committee in Gombe.
TVC’s Correspondent Lanre Adeyemi reports the Governors had a separate meeting for about two hours after which they met with the state chairmen and members of the national working committee.
After their three and half hour deliberation, the group reaffirmed that the PDP remains strong regardless of defections.
The party criticised the Buhari led administration in the areas of security, anti-corruption and what it describes as “harassment of opposition leaders”.
The PDP Governors have been meeting regularly in the build-up to the 2019 general elections.
The chairman of the party, Uche Secondus and the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike were conspicuously absent at this last meeting.
