The Senate on Wednesday passed a resolution to set up an endowment fund for senators who die in active service so as to provide for the welfare of the families they leave behind.
The resolution followed a valedictory session in honour of their late colleague, Ali Wakili, who died in Abuja on Saturday.
The Senate also resolved to liaise with the House of Representatives to establish a National Assembly museum and archives to immortalise members appropriately.
The Upper Chamber is also considering naming committees and hearing rooms after senators.
In a motion, Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan, said some of the bills and motions sponsored by the deceased include Federal College of Education, Dass, Establishment 2018, Nigerian Customs Service Act Repeal and Re-enactment Bill 2018, Nigerian Customs Service Pension Board Bill 2018.
A minute silence was later held in honour of late Senator Ali Wakili.
