Several gun shots were fired and tear gas released as followers of incarcerated Islamic leader El-ZakZaky were confronted by armed riot police men during a street protest to demand the release of their leader.
TVC News gathered that it all started when protesters were restricted from entering the unity foundation, which is now the starting point for all street protests in Abuja.
Things quickly degenerated into a violent confrontation between the Police and protesters, who initially refused to back down.

The protest which took place in the Central Area of the city, lasted for an hour, before the police succeeded in forcefully dispersing the group.
