The All Progressives Congress Party, APC, has resolved the controversy surrounding the extension of the tenure of party executives, with a resolution that state congresses and a national convention will hold. This was decided at a National Executive Committee meeting of the party where President Muhammadu Buhari also declared his intention to seek re-election come 2019.
The NEC meeting resolved all the issues raised, with the review of technical committee report which upheld that congresses and a national elective convention should hold.
President Muhammadu Buhari also made his intention known to NEC members that he would contest in 2019 for a second term in office.
The chairman of the technical committee, Simon Lalong says the NEC provided a waiver for the present NWC members to recontest if they so wish.
The party is expected to hold a national convention and state congresses for a later date.
