Death toll in Idlib blast rises to at least 19 – Monitor

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said thirteen of those killed in Monday’s attack were civilians.

Video uploaded to the internet by the civil defence group known as the White Helmets purported to show two children being rescued alive from the rubble in Idlib. A child was seen being rushed to a waiting ambulance, and then the video appeared to show a child being treated at a field hospital.

A second video purported to show workers searching through the rubble of a damaged building.

The Observatory said that a number of people are still missing and the death toll is expected to rise, adding that the cause of the explosion was unclear.

A war monitor said on Tuesday that dozens of buses headed to rebel-held north-western Syria on Tuesday, carrying Syrian militants who agreed to surrender the town they controlled near Damascus after it was hit in a suspected chemical attack .

Video uploaded to a social media website on Tuesday shows buses driving the rebels and their families towards the northwestern town of Al Bab.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said sixty-seven buses carrying hundreds of fighters along with family members and other civilians who did not wish to come back under Assad’s rule, reached opposition areas near Aleppo on Tuesday .

RIA news agency quoted Russia’s Defence Ministry as saying 3,600 militants and their families had left Douma over the past 24 hours.

The Russian-sponsored deal sealed on April 1st grants safe passage to thousands of rebels in return for the rebel group Jaish al-Islam releasing hundreds of hostages and prisoners of war.
