The Federal Government has allayed fears of a planned attack by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly called Shiites on residents of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja. State House Correspondent Mariah Olasehinde reports that this formed part of the outcomes of this week’s Federal executive Council meeting.

This week’s Federal Executive Council meeting was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo with president Muhammadu Buhari on an official visit to the United Kingdom.

Addressing issues on the incessant killings and insecurity in the FCT, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazzau said adequate measures have been taken to ensure the safety of lives and property of all citizens in the FCT.  He advised residents to ignore any alert of impending attacks

The Federal cabinet approved a contract for the purchase of eight rapid intervention vehicles for the Federal Fire Service, worth N280m (Two hundred and eighty eight million naira).

Council also approved N33bn for Bida- Lapai – Lambata road Niger state.

As part of efforts to finding a lasting solution to the farmers herdsmen clashes in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari will host ECOWAS conference on farmers / herders clashes which will open on April 26.
