The Federal Executive Council has approved contracts worth N6 billion for four different airports in the country.
The Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, made this known at the end of the council’s meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Sirika says the contract will include provision of Instrument Landing System for aircraft operations in harsh weather conditions.
He added that the council has approved N1.188 billion to upgrade the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to Category III status while N1.175 billion was approved to upgrade the Akure and Benin airports to Category II status.
The contracts will be completed within 20 weeks.
