German police said they have detained several people in Berlin who they suspected of planning a crime linked to Sunday’s half-marathon.
One of the suspects is believed to have been planning a knife attack at the popular event, which drew a record 36,000 athletes this year.
Berlin police said they had detained six suspects aged between 18 and 21 after searches in three districts in the capital.
The Berlin half-marathon is the biggest in Germany, and thousands of people lined Berlin streets to watch the event, which ended with no reported incidents.
