The Benue State Police Command on Monday confirmed the death of four of its personnel who came under attack of suspected herdsmen at Anyibe, Logo LGA of the State.
According to the statement by the Command spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu, the incident happened at Anyibe, in Logo Local Government Area of the state between 1800hrs of Sunday and early Monday morning.
Logo and Guma local government areas have been under severe attacks of suspected Fulani herdsmen since the New Year, resulting in loss of lives.
Yamu, in the statement issued, stated that the Policemen came under the fire of insurgents at Anyibe, Logo LGA between 18.00 hours of Sunday and early Monday morning.
“Sadly at the moment, four casualties have been suffered by Police,” Yamu noted.
Yamu said additional reinforcement, including the Air Asset of the Police have been deployed by the Inspector General of Police in pursuit of the murderous gang.
The statement said Police authorities are confident that the attackers shall be apprehended with their weapons of destruction and made to face the full wrath of the law.
