A grassroots football development advocate and promoter of Yewa-Awori Nation’s cup, Gbenga Akinwande, has faulted the sports development policies of the Ogun state government for not adding values to the lives of the youth, and discouraging many of them from sharpening their talents through government owned facilities spread across the state.
Akinwande made this known while reacting to the poor state of sporting activities in the state.
He noted that the state has many talented youths who are desirous of have
their skills sharpened through competitions and practising with standard
facilities but were not encouraged to do so, due to the policies of the
state government and poor social responsibility.
He queried why youths should be asked to pay money before using public
facilities and the roles of government in sports development when non for
profit foundations are also discouraged from helping the youth to remould
themselves.
