The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has charged corps members to maintain their neutrality while working as adhoc staff for the general elections.
Director General of the Corps, Major General Suleiman Kazaure, delivered this message to corps members during a working visit to the Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt.
Correspondent Uche Okoro reports that the NYSC has become as major stakeholder in the conduct of elections in Nigeria though the value of its contribution has also been a subject of debate over the years.
Therefore the essence of this meeting at the convocation arena of Rivers State University is see how corps members can improve on their election duties NYSC DG says corps members can raise the bar by rejecting inducement by politicians or their supporters
So much is expected from these young men and women who would be working as presiding officers and polling clerks but they also have expectations and concerns of their own.
Figures from the NYSC indicate that about four hundred thousand corps members nationwide are expected to work as adhoc staff for the forthcoming polls.
