Today, January 15th, 2019 is the armed forces remembrance.
A day, Nigeria honours its military men who died in the line of duty. The celebration is an annual event organized to honour members of the Nigerian Armed Forces who fought in the first and second World Wars. It is a day to also commemorate those who served or are still serving in various peace
support operations worldwide.
The dead and the living heroes including those who suffered various deprivations as a result of wars are also remembered.
As Nigeria marks the remembrance today, one thing remains pertinent- the welfare of soldiers and men, who are at the forefront in the war against insurgency in the North-east, herdsmen killings in the Middle-belt, Militancy in the South-south and other pockets of violence that has been rocking the nation simultaneously.
