Auno community in Konduga local government area of Borno state came under attack last night by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
Auno lies along Maiduguri to Damaturu highway and is about 24 km east of Maiduguri.
A source in the JTF said;
“They came at exactly 6:10 pm to Auno village, some 23 kilometres away from Maiduguri, heading towards the security and started opening fire, the troops stood their ground; also, local hunters and CJTF supported the troops.
“Our concern is the motorists plying the road because that is usually a rushing hour for travelers, many might have been killed by insurgents. The battle was going at 8pm. So, there was no immediately feedback from our members.”
TVC News gathered that the army repelled the attack and residents fled the area.
