President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the Nigeria Air Force over the death of five of its personnel.
The president said he shares a feeling of loss with the Nigeria Air force.
In some tweets he posted via his Twitter handle, the President prays for the departed airmen and notes that their sacrifices will be remembered.
The Nigerian Airforce says their Mi-35M helicopter crashed in combat on Wednesday, while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion, Damasak in Borno state.
The deceased personnel, whose remains have been recovered to Maiduguri, are:
Flight Lieutenant, Perowei Jacob, who was the pilot in command.
Flight Lieutenant, Kaltho Paul Kilyofas, who was the co-pilot.
Sergeant Auwal Ibrahim, who was a flight technician.
Lance Corporal, Adamu Nura, and Aircraftman Meshack Ishmael, who were both gunners.
