The Economic and Financial crimes commission said it has now recovered more than Seven hundred billion Naira from more than 700 convictions of corrupt individuals in the Country.
The anti-graft agency said the Country recorded illicit financial outflows of $217.7bn in 38 years., which is between 1970 and 2008.
The Acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, represented by its Acting Spokesperson, Tony Orilade, made this revelation at a conference organised for online publishers.
He says corruption is perpetrated by individuals and groups both in the “The figure stands at 103 in 2015,
195 in 2016, 189 in 2017 and 312 in 2018. This puts the total figure at 799 convictions.
In the process of such convictions, the EFCC recovered N794.5bn naira, $261m dollars, £1.1m pounds, €8.1m euros and CFA86, 500 cefa
Transparency International also records that Nigeria was the most corrupt country in the world for years: 1996, 1997, 2000 and second in the line for remaining years up to 2003.
