The deputy Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Segun Adewumi has been impeached again.
He was first removed in May last year for gross misconduct and abuse of office but returned after his successor was impeached alongside the former Speaker of the House, Kola Oluwawole last October.
Olamiposi Omodara representing Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituency One has been elected as the new Deputy Speaker of Ekiti State Assembly.
Members of the house who took the decision at plenary on Thursday also removed the Chief Whip, Akinniyi Sunday.
Adewumi’s impeachment did not come as a surprise to many, as he had been marked for sanctions over his alleged adversarial posture in the house.
Adewumi, who is believed to be one of the cerebral members of the house, was accused of incompetence and unruly behaviour.
Also impeached was the House’s Chef Whip, Akinniyi Sunday, representing Ikere constituency II.
However, unconfirmed reports said the two were impeached for their support for the former PDP governorship aspirant, Dayo Adeyeye, during the primary conducted on May 8.
