The meeting between the Government and University lecturers has again ended inconclusive.
ASUU leadership says the strike continues.
Briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting, which lasted close to four hours, Labour and Employment Minister Chris Ngige expressed hope that ASUU will call off the strike by this weekend.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release of N20 billion to offset arrears of Verified Earned Allowance of the lecturers between 2009 and 2012.
He also said the issue of pension for university teachers has been taken care of and that the Education Ministry is mandated to reach out to PenCom and ensure permanent license is issued to ASUU as soon as possible.
He said some ‘token’ has been offered ASUU for the revitalisation of the universities and that the union is expected to get back to Government on the offer.
Responding, ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi, said his team will take the offer to members.
ASUU says the strike continues and would not disclose how soon it will make it’s resolution known to the Government.
