Nigeria will have an effective health insurance scheme when more states partner with the federal government to allocate funds to the health sector for universal health coverage.
This was the consensus of a meeting of Biennial Delegates of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners in Yenagoa.

The National Health Insurance Scheme was established in 2005 but only few governments have done so at the state level.
“Universal Health Coverage: Facts or Myths” is one of the lecture topics at the meeting of members of Government General Medical And Dental Practitioners.
The Bayelsa Chapter of the association shares its experience of a scheme designed to provide healthcare and financial protection to its citizens.
Delegates also discussed “Community Ownership And Involvement In Routine Immunisation as a panacea for Sustainability and improved coverage”.
