For the first time, the Army Act which was inherited from the British government in 1960 has been reviewed.
This is part of the larger review of the Armed Forces Act, the final document which has been submitted to the Minister of Defence.
Chairman of the Review Committee, Chibugo Ibekwe, noted that the extant Armed Forces Act which has been in force for more than 24 years was full of irregularities arising from its application.
