The Nigerian Army says it has neutralised several terrorists belonging to the Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP.
Army spokesman, Brigadier General Sani Usman says soldiers also recovered some arms and ammunition from the militants who recently attacked Baga in Borno State.
In an operation that started three days to the new year, troops of a newly formed Special Forces unit cleared three communities without resistance, but fought with terrorists to clear another.
The army lost one officer and a soldier, with 5 others sustaining injuries.
The operation had the support of the Air Force.
