The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the Plateau state governor and APC candidate, Simon Lalong as winner of the state governorship election.
The APC candidate polled a total of 595, 582 votes to defeat his closest rival and PDP’s Jeremiah Useni who garnered 546, 813 votes. The total Valid Votes in the election is 1, 595, 954 while the total vote cast is 1 176 142.
Vice Chancellor of the Benue state University of Agriculture, Professor Richard Kimbir, who is the state Returning Officer made the declaration after computing all results of the poll. Addressing journalists shortly after he was declared the winner, governor solicits partnership support from the people of the state.
He said the task is a course to greater service. The governor-elect extends hands of fellowship to other contenders. He described the victory as the victory for the whole of Plateau, no victor, no vanquished and seeks cooperation from newly elected state house and national assembly members.
