The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced March 28 as the new date for the Supplementary governorship election in Adamawa state after a State High Court in Yola, set aside its earlier order that restrained the electoral body from conducting the election.
Correspondence Owolabi reports that Justice Abdul Aziz Wasizi, did not just set aside his earlier order restraining INEC from conducting the Governorship Supplementary election in the state, he also ruled that the court had jurisdiction to adjudicate on the case filed before it by the Movement for the Restoration and Defence of Democracy.
Hearing on the substantive suit is fixed for Wednesday and the MRDD is asking the court to nullify the Adamawa Governorship election conducted on the ninth of march because the logo of the party was not on the ballot paper .
Reacting to the ruling, Counsel to the PDP, says the court’s decision to set aside the ex parte order is very important.
The counsel of the MRDD is happy that the court will hear out earlier injunctions regarding absence of the party logo on the ballot paper.
With this latest development the two leading political parties, the APC and the PDP is expected to prepare for that final push towards winning the governorship election in Adamawa state.
