More than one hundred cases of cholera have been confirmed in Beira, Mozambique, a week after Cyclone Idai
According to Land and Environment minister Celso Correiat, a vaccination campaign, which will start next week, will aim to reach 800,000 people in areas ravaged by Cyclone Idai.
Thousands of people were trapped for more than a week in submerged villages without access to clean water after Cyclone Idai hit Beira on March 14, causing catastrophic flooding and killing more than 700 people across three countries in southeast Africa.
Cholera is endemic to Mozambique, which has had regular outbreaks over the past five years.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has already noted an increase in malaria.
