The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, has granted leave to the Peoples Democratic Party and it’s presidential candidate in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar to serve President Muhammad Buhari and his party a petition by substituted means.
Counsel to the PDP and Atiku Abubakar had asked the court to grant the request for substituted service on the ground that it has become practically impossible to personally serve the president the petition.
Chairman of the three-man panel, Justice Abdul Aboki, said that the court granted the request of the petitioners in the interest of justice.
The tribunal ordered that president Muhammad Buhari, who is the second respondent in the petition be served through any of the senior officials of the APC at its Abuja national Secretariat
No date has been fixed for hearing of the petition as service to the defendants will first be confirmed.
