At least 10 people have been killed in heavy rains triggered floods, landslides, and mudslides in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Strong rains battered most of Rio de Janeiro, with some areas seeing more than 200 millimeters of rainfall.
Local authorities organized more than 5,000 workers to participate in the rescue operation, but continued rainfall on Tuesday complicated their efforts.
Flooded roads paralyzed transportation in some areas, forcing rescue workers to use boats instead of vehicles to get around the city’s streets.
A state of emergency has been declared, as more heavy rains are forecast for the coming days.
