Economic cooperation between Nigeria and China is viewed as very healthy with China being the largest trading partner to Nigeria in 2017 with exports to Nigeria standing at 12.15 billion Dollars.
This was disclosed at the ongoing 2019 Belt and Road Nigeria-China Economic and Trade forum in Abuja
The Belt and road initiative, also called the Silk road Economic Belt or the 21st century Maritime silk road, is an open and inclusive international platform provided by china with the objective of achieving shared growth.
Nigeria signed a memorandum of understanding and 13 other agreements with China in 2018 which falls under the belt and road initiative.
The Nigerian government is confident this will help increase manufacturing in accordance with the priorities of Economic Recovery and
Growth Plan.
