Speakers at the 2019 edition edition of International Holiness Women Conference, organised by the Holiness Revival Movement, have said activities of church leaders are contributing to the rampant cases of corruption across the country.
Correspondent Habidah lawal reports that political corruption is a persistent phenomenon in Nigeria, but it has found its way into the church and is determining political leaders who have church support
This year’s women’s conference, believes it is time religious leaders take the issue of corruption in the church very seriously because they have
followers who look up to them. Corruption in churches, they said has hindered the lifestyle and the way the Christian religion is perceived.
The Church is an important and influential institution in the society but the main issues identified for its present state, at the conference, are
moral, ethical and attitudinal failure.
The conclusion of the conference is that for the Church to perform its roles properly and adequately, it must firmly strengthen itself through
the Scriptures.
