The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) trade Liberalization scheme task force has expressed concern over worrisome activities along the borders and corridors of West Africa.
These concerns were communicated to the Minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama in Abuja during a courtesy visit.
The task force team is set up by the authorities of heads of States of Ecowas to ensure the smooth implementation of the objectives of ECOWAS regarding trade liberalization.
This delegation is concerned about the indiscriminate acts of thugs, collection of illegal transit fees, and the many check points which negate the provision of ECOWAS.
It wants the ministry of foreign affairs to take the lead in ensuring that all barriers against trade in the region is removed.
In response, the minister says maximum support would be accorded the task force to ensure that ECOWAS objectives are realised.
