Representatives of Civil Society Organizations across the African continent have gathered to examine the Economic Community of West AfricanCSOs States (ECOWAS) model mining and minerals development Act.
This gathering in Abuja is held to create a regulated environment for the overall sustainability of the mining sector in the region.
Mayowa Okunato reports that the workshop is established to give a citizen’s view on the ECOWAS model mining and minerals development Act
It also initiates the formal statutory process for the adoption of a community act on mining and mineral development”
The outcome of the Workshop will be forwarded with recommendations to ministers in charhe of the mining sector im various member countries, for their consideration.
