The Federal government said it has saved N90b (Ninety seven billion Naira) in 2017 and 2018 through the introduction of Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information system.
This was disclosed at a retreat organized by the accountant general of the Federation’s office.
Helen Osamede-Akins reports that the IPPIS was introduced in 2007 in order to ensure transparency, accuracy and the cutting out of
avoidable excesses in personnel costs.
The platform was first introduced as a result of the urgent need to curtail the “ghost worker” syndrome in Ministries Departments and Agencies of government.
Since the introduction of the platform, reasonable success has been attained resulting in huge savings in personnel cost. The organisers of this retreat believe there is need to improve on the scheme to ensure more gains are achieved.
MDAs who are yet to be enrolled in the scheme are advised to comply with the presidential directive that all MDAs should join the IPPIS
