Adele has announced she would be splitting with Simon Konecki after three years. The singer had married Konecki, a 45-year-old entrepreneur in secret in 2016, after the couple had been dating for five years.
Adele had revealed her marriage to the world on stage at the 2017 Grammy Awards when in her acceptance speech she said “ My manager, my husband, and my son, you’re the only reason I do it.”
The London-born singer gave birth to her son Angelo in 2012. In a statement released by her representatives Benny Tarantini and Carl Fysh on Friday, Adele and Simon “are committed to raising their son together lovingly.”
Simon and Adele reportedly first met in 2011, the year she released 21 which went on to win 7 Grammys. The pair were first spotted together however in 2012 on holiday in Florida. Simon was previously an investment banker with Lehman Brothers but left in 2005 to co-found Life Water, an eco-friendly bottled water company and Drop4Drop a charity which provides clean water access to developing countries.
The statement doesn’t reveal much about the split. Adele is famously quiet about her private life and as such the statement asks for privacy and says there will be no further comments.
