Katsina state government said it is employing new strategies to approach the issues of banditry and kidnapping by meeting with Fulani women in various parts of the state.
The state government believes that approaching the security challenges through reorientation will go along in addressing the issue.
Abdullatif Yusuf reports that it is believed that the neglect of societal values and tenets of religion by the fulani communities contributed to the rise and their involvement into social vices, such as kidnapping and banditry.
In recent times, Katsina state has suffered an increase in these social vices and that is why the government is employing a new strategy to save
lives and properties. The new move is simple – education and empowerment to women.
The state government says it is working with the neighbouring states nip banditry and kidnapping in the bud.
