Staff of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies have embarked on an indefinite strike over non-payment of their four months salaries.
Staff of the state college of education have also begun a sit-at-work.
Correspondent Ibrahim Alege reports that the protests were staged simultaneously by the staff of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies and the state College of Education, both in Ilorin.
They are agitated because of the non-payment of their salaries which they attributed to the delay in the release of their subventions. They claimed that they have made several efforts to make the government pay but all to no avail.
While staff of the state college of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin have embarked on an indefinite strike, their counterparts from the
college of education, Ilorin have adopted a sit-at-work tactic.
They said payment of their arrears is the only condition that can make them change their decision. Efforts to get reactions from officials of the Kwara state government were unsuccessful.
