The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps , Abdullahi Muhammadu, has said the corps will not oppose the call
for the creation of State Police by some Nigerians.
He stated this during the pulling-out parade for the immediate past Zonal Commander of Zone “F”, Waheed Popoola, at the NSCDC College for Security and Management Studies in Abeokuta.
TVC News Kazeem Olowe reports that the Commandant-General who was represented by the Zonal Commander of Zone A, Andy Dateer, said the corps is for the people and will always support what the people want in the interest of peace.
He added that the creation of state police would assist in tackling some of the security challenges confronting the country.
The outgoing Zone F Commander charged his men to continue to work for the protection of government’s critical infrastructure, noting that the corps still has more to offer the country.
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is one of the para military agencies and has been working with other agencies in ensuring adequate
security of lives and property in the country.
