Egypt’s coach Javier Aguirre has named a provisional 25-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations with the 33 year old Ahmed Ali making a return to the team after an eight-year absence.
Ahmed Ali ‘s invitation comes after he topped the scoring charts in the Egyptian top-flight with 18 goals for Arab Contractors.
Al Ahly’s Waleed Soliman also returns to the team after a two year absence.
Eight foreign-based players were called up including Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah and Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny.
Egypt will play two friendly matches before the Nations cup kicks off.
South Africa name squad
South Africa coach Stuart Baxter has also announced a 30-man squad for the Nations cup.
Six new players made the list that will be reduced to 23 players in the coming days.
South Africa will play in Group D of the Nations cup alongside Morocco, Ivory Coast and Namibia.
