Nigeria’s Power generation has dropped by 1,682 megawatts from 4,129.2MW, data from the Nigeria Electricity System Operator, an arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, has shown.
The data showed that generation stood at 2,441MW as of 6.00 am on Monday.
The power grid reportedly collapsed last week, worsening electricity supply in many parts of the country.
The Managing Director, TCN, Usman Mohammed, said the system collapse was the worst in recent times. The system operator put the nation’s installed generation capacity at 12,910.40MW while available capacity is at 7,652.60MW.
The grid has continued to suffer system collapse over the years amid a lack of spinning reserve that is meant to forestall such occurrences.
