The protest of the indigenous people of Abuja has gotten the attention of Vice president Yemi Osinbajo.
The angry protesters blocked the major highway leading to the Nnamdi azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, causing a halt in traffic flow to the airport and a huge inconvenience for other commuters on that busy road.
The indigenous People of Abuja are protesting against an alleged violent takeover of their lands by the army and the killing of their kinsmen when they embarked on a peaceful protest.
It took the persuasion and strong assurances from the vice president before the peaceful protesters removed the barricades from the road.
The vice president promised to summon an emergency meeting with all parties involved.
The group had carried out this same protest in front of the national assembly three times within one month.
